Jose studied biology in Universidad de Alicante, obtained his Ph.D. from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and worked as a postdoc at Yale University. He is a Principal investigator at Tsinghua University since 2012. Research in his laboratory uses genetic, molecular and cellular approaches in fruit flies to study extracellular matrix components such as Collagen, the most abundant protein in the human body.
